GANGSTA

I'm tired of getting sweat in my eyes every time I  run without a hat, and I'm tired of wearing a hat every time I run.  Tricky yes--unsolvable no.  Some would say the only solution is to stop running and I would tell them they're stupid. The solution, obviously, is to wear a bandana.

I realize this might not be this might not be the smartest fashion move, but I don't care.  It probably wasn't a good move in college when I grew my hair out so I could wear a bandana either.  Looking back, I don't think it was the head wear that was a bad choice, but the uncombed mob of hair on my head.  Whatever.

When you see me next it is very possible I could be wearing a red or blue bandana.  Hope I don't get caught up in the whole bloods/crips thing...that is so 90s.

TRUE OR FALSE?

KICKS UPDATE

So realized the last time I tried to put a picture of these guys up it didn't work....can't have that.  Anyway, I bought these shoes yesterday and I love them.  I only went on a 3 miler, on a treadmill, but they fit and felt great.  It always surprises me how much more "cushy" new shoes are than old, worn out shoes.  I'll keep you posted.

Other running related news, I'm going to officially start my marathon training today.

TESTING 1 2 3

So remember my first post where I said I didn't have a smart phone?  Well, now I do.  Now don't be expecting a ton of posts informing you of my every move...mainly because I don't care about your every move, so why would I assume you care about mine.  Now what you can expect is a few more pictures of things I stumble across and think are cool.  One more thing, my spelling has always been bad, but I was doing this blog with my buddy spell check...well he doesn't do this mobile thing.  Plus my fat fingers hit 4 letters at once. So uh...deal with it.

NEW KICKS...MAYBE.

So my old running shoes have seen better days...and in an attempt to stay motivated to run, I'm thinking about buying these bad boys.  I love the brand and have had at least 7 pairs of Mizunos, but my last pair, the Mizunos Wave Inspire 5, seemed to be very supportive...almost too much so.  The reviews I've read about these say they're a little less supportive, so that makes this slow runner happy.  My only concern is that they might be too narrow.  So, in the next few days I'll be scouring the streets of this fair city to try these puppies on.  If you know anything about these, let me know.

HOLA!

I'm back kiddos, and I hope you behaved when I was gone.

Here is what I learned while I was in Mexico...
-There is no need for moderation at an all inclusive resort
-Trying to speak a little bit of Spanish goes a long way
-A $3 tip goes even further
-Americans have no shame
-I need a personal chef who is willing to cook me an  omelet or sea food on command
-Vacation friends can be cooler than you originally thought
-Sometimes you have to trust strangers
-Snorkeling works better if you don't have a beard
-I could eat sushi every day

I'm also in the market for a mo-mo to wear until I  lose the 53 pounds I gained (thanks to the above mentioned lack of moderation), so if you know of a good mo-mo place, do share.

Hope this past week treated everyone well...and don't worry, I'll start posting regularly now that I'm back in the states--sure you can't wait.

LAST NIGHT

Met up with some pals at the Shakespeare Festival in Forest Park to watch "Taming of a Shrew".  It was a good show with a good pace and was very easy to watch.  Not to mention it was a perfect night for sitting on a blanket outside with some good friends.  Last show is Sunday, so if you want to see it, you better get going.

I'm going to make it my new summer-time resolution to start doing things like this more often.  And when I say things like this, I mean free, outside, and out of my normal routine...so, if you happen to hear of any events, let me know.

KEEP THIS IN MIND

MOVIE THOUGHTS

So yesterday we spent about 7 hours doing nothing but sitting in front of the TV and taking naps, but enough was enough.  Around 6:30 p.m. we decided that we needed to get out of the house because sitting in front of the TV all day was unacceptable...so we went to a movie.

We saw Bridesmaids...it was hilarious!  I laughed so hard that I cried at one point in the movie.  You could definitely tell it was aimed at women because there were some pretty romantic scenes.  But the makers of the film did a great job of putting enough funny scenes for the guys in the audience.  Dude or chick, I'd definitely recommend seeing this movie.

HAPPY OR SAD?

Should I be happy that gas is $3.48 or should I be sad that I'm happy about it?
Talk about tough decisions.

BEAT THE HEAT

So yesterday's run was not as glorious as I was hoping.  Now I'm not one to make excuses, but I ran like poo.  Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was that my shins were sore, maybe it's because the earth was rotating off it's axis, or maybe it's that I just suck.  Whatever the reason, the run didn't feel good.  I think today I'm going to run on the running machine to get a good run under my belt.  Luckily the "official" training program hasn't started, so these runs don't really matter...just trying to shed some lbs for the summer.

Since it was balls-hot yesterday, we decided to check out a local film festival at the Tivioli.  It was awesome to see work made by local people...I even knew one of the teams entered.  Good job by all.

OUT OF SHAPE

So I went running outside for the first time in a long, long time...and boy o boy, could I tell.  I have been running on a somewhat regular schedule on the treadmill lately, but it is waaay different when the ground doesn't move itself.  I ended up only doing 2 miles and it felt like 20...believe it or not, not the best feeling in the world.  Also didn't help that there was a heat advisory.  I have no doubts that today will be better...you'll hear about it tomorrow.

SIT HERE

Today we got our portion of the seating chart done...it only took about 46 minutes and was not nearly as stressful as we thought it would be.  Celebrated our awesome feat with some grilled goodness and a few cold ones.  Now to relax and decompress in our clean house for the rest of the night.

HOW DO YOU DO THAT???

So I heard on the news that the space shuttle just landed after a mission to do science on the international space station...how in the world do you find a space station floating around in space?  I can't even begin to wrap my mind around that...guess that's why I don't wear a space suit or work at NASA.  Either way, good job the science.
