NO NEED

Kudos to the person who invented toys for pets (and I'm sure became rich)...even more kudos to the advertisers who made us all think we needed them...both to show our love for our pets and so these pets could have something to occupy their time.

Now everyone is happy...the kittens get a "toy" that keeps them busy and happy for hours and I get some tasty brews.

LONG WEEKEND

This weekend was jam packed with fun'ness.

Not only were fun actives completed, but so were some necessities.  Finally got around to installing the toolbox on my truck, washed both vehicles, cleaned the house, did some laundry, put the finishing touches on some wedding details, grilled a feast, fixed a door knob that I may have accidental pulled off the door, and fancied up the yard by planting flowers and whatnot.

Sunday we mosied down the road a bit to Hawn State Park--did some hiking and picnicking.  Hawn was really pretty and the weather couldn't have been better...we actually picked the one day of the year that it was sunny and not humid.  Lucky us.

GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

Looks like mother nature is pissed...as if she has reared her ugly head enough.  Hope everyone fairs ok.

SO...

I want to take a trip.  Last summer we took a week off went exploring out west.  Fun times were had and great memories made.

Well, I've got that itch again.  I realize I won't be able to have a week long road trip this year, but I'm thinking of a 2 or 3 day getaway...maybe some camping too.

PS-I realize the quote on the picture is talking about more than a 2 day trip, but you gotta work with what you have.

ON THE MEND

Had to take the lil' guys to the vet last night...both were playing a game called, "I'm going to throw-up and poop everywhere".  This is not a fun game for those involved, feline or person.  After a shot of fluids and some antibiotics they seemed to be feeling better this morning.

Oh yeah, the vet said the medicine was mixed with sugar water, which meant the cats wouldn't mind having it forced into their mouths twice a day for 8 days.  She lied.

RANDOM

So, sometimes I have random thoughts bouncing around in my head...

Music.  I like it. I listen to it as much as I can.  I'm not good at making it.

But where did it come from?  I know it has been around for a long time, like, back when cave men were walking around with clubs.  But how did it start?  Who was the first caveman to make that sweet, sweet music?  I'd imagine most of the caveman's life was devoted to hunting and not being eaten by some super scary animal.  Who was the first caveman to be like, you know what, I'm going to take a break from the constant struggle of not dying and hit this rock for a while, maybe I'll even blow into this hollow stick.

Then, who was the other caveman who encouraged it.  I can just picture it now...

Caveman 1:  Ugg, how 'bout you hit that rock today, I'll go and kill your food and make sure you don't die
Caveman 2:  Sounds like a deal to me
Caveman 1:  Why don't you find another caveman to blow into this stick while you hit that rock...I bet that
                    would sound good.

Was this how it all went down?

ADDITIONS

Meet Jack and Chunk.

CHANGED PLANS

So I was planning on helping a buddy move some stuff this morning but that plan was derailed because our recent weather created a mud-pit in the moving area.  So, this is the first Saturday in over 2 months that I haven't had to do something in the morning/early afternoon...the problem is, now that I have this free time, I can't decide what to do.

It's almost like I need to do something to take advantage of the opportunity, but I'm afraid to make the wrong decision and squander this free time, so I just continue sitting here watching music videos.
Weird.

BAD MATH

Classes finishing + nearing the end of the program = thesis approaching

Let me know if you have any great ideas about what to write about (somehow related to advertising)...I'll even listen to bad ideas.

SO CLOSE

I'm at that point in the semester again...a final paper due tomorrow and Thursday.  The good news is that I finally stuck to my plan of not waiting till the last minute to do them.  Actually, got a nice little bunch of research done and a couple of pages written for one of them and am about 93% done with the other.  Hopefully, I won't be seeing 3:00 a.m. this time around...although I do really enjoy hanging out in the library's computer lab instead of sleeping.

So this is the big push gang, I'm going to get this paper and presentation done today...working on a paper and praying the printer doesn't jam tomorrow 5 minutes before its due--not this semester.

I'm off this blog and back to Word.
See you on the other side.

BACKSLIDE

So, after losing some weight to try and win a trip, I have accidentally gained some of it back.  "Accidentally" is a pretty lose term seeing as how I kinda quit eating healthy and slowed down my working out.  Anywho, I'm going to get back at it.

So, that leads me to my next announcement.....I'm going to run another marathon.  I have already decided that I'm going to do some triathlons this summer and I think the marathon training can fit into the training schedule.

Click here for more info on the run.

What does this mean for all of you lucky readers???  That means you're going to get to hear all about my training.  You can thank me later.

BEST SO FAR

Best thing I’ve heard so far today…

A co-worker was describing her night last night…apparently; it is a regular occurrence for her son to ask her questions in an attempt to prolong bed-time routine.  Yesterday the question/answer session went like this:

He asked: “Mommy, how do wishes come true?”
Her reply:  “Wishes aren’t real, they’re pretend! We’ll talk about it in the morning.  Now go to bed!”

Nothing like teaching a 4 year old about the ways of the world…

ALMOST DONE

My packing is almost done and I am super happy about that.  If there is one job that I hate in this world, it is moving.  Don't get me wrong, the end result is completely worth the pain of moving, I just hate it, pure and simple.  One thing I don't understand is how some people can honestly say they don't mind moving...are you serious?  It is at least 5 crappy jobs rolled into one major, never-ending, stressful job and you're telling me you don't mind it...do you like root canals smashing your thumb with a hammer too?

During this move my theory of  packing the most important and breakable stuff first has been proven again.  I don't know how other people do it, but when I first start the packing process, I'm all like, "This is glass, better wrap it up in a ton of newspaper and gently place it in a box" by the end my thought process has changed dramatically to, "This   (insert fragile object here)  doesn't need any newspaper around it, and it will probably make the trip."  Same with moving furniture...it's amazing how a little scratch or knocked off corner doesn't bother me when I'm tired of moving.  Turn the dresser on it's side and gently walk it through the door?  Nope, lets keep it how it is, which requires less lifting, and run at the door as fast as possible, it will probably make it...if not, ehh, it was old anyway.

For all you fellow movers out there, don't forget to lift with your legs and not your back.

HOW MANY

How many trips to Target (within a 3 hour window) does it take to purchase all the required supplies to create an organized closet?

Two. The answer is two.
